Simple, no manual needed
Your clients sign in, edit, publish. Everything saves automatically, validation only steps in when publishing, deleting asks for one confirmation and removes the page from the site. No settings, no jargon, nothing to break.
100% static, European infrastructure
Your clients sign in, edit, publish: nothing else to learn, nothing to break. The site stays 100% static and the schema never leaves your repo.
Free for one site, no credit card
How it works
You describe your collections in TypeScript, just like your content collections today. One command imports an existing site, content and images included. The official loader keeps everything typed end to end.
A clean interface in English or French, on phone and desktop. Guided fields, autosave, validation only at publish time. They can only touch what your schema allows.
Every publish creates an immutable version, rebuilds the site at your host and tracks the deployment until it turns green. If something goes wrong, going back to yesterday takes two clicks.
What you get
Your clients sign in, edit, publish. Everything saves automatically, validation only steps in when publishing, deleting asks for one confirmation and removes the page from the site. No settings, no jargon, nothing to break.
A native, typed Content Layer loader, the schema as code in your repo, one-command import of an existing site. In production your site never calls the CMS: if Menestrel goes down, your sites stay online and builds keep passing.
"Publish" creates an immutable version, triggers the rebuild (Vercel, Netlify, Cloudflare, GitHub Actions, your VPS) and tracks the deployment until "Live at 2:32 pm". Your client never meets the words build or git.
Each locale has its own status: French can be live while English is still a draft. The loader exposes locale and translations for your i18n routing. Interface and documentation in English and French.
Your client drops a photo from their phone; it comes out as AVIF and WebP, cropped, resized, served by CDN with signed URLs. Alt text is part of the flow, not an option.
Hosted in France (Scaleway, Paris), published content and media served by Bunny, the European CDN. Full markdown and JSON export on every plan, free included. Invoices in euros, DPA provided, no transfer to the United States.
Deploy targets
Menestrel triggers and tracks the build where your site already lives. One token is enough to see the real deployment status, never a fake "live".
Including rsync or FTP to a plain server, through the generated GitHub Actions workflow.
Per site, unlimited seats, unlimited locales from the first paid plan. Full export available on every plan, free included.

That is the whole point. No settings, no lost drafts, no version conflicts: open, edit, everything saves, publish. The only dialog an editor ever meets is the confirmation before deleting. If a client stays stuck on Menestrel for more than ten minutes, write to us: that is a bug.
Your site keeps running: it is static and does not depend on us. Published versions keep being served from the CDN, and the full export (markdown + JSON in the content collections format) is available at any time, on every plan. No captive data.
No. Menestrel embraces Astro completely: a native typed loader, compatibility within 14 days of every major release. If your site is not on Astro, we are not for you, and we would rather tell you.
Yes, and that is a deliberate constraint rather than a shortcoming. Content is only needed at build time: in production, your site makes zero requests to the CMS, so there is nothing to watch and nothing to fall over. The trade-off is that publishing goes through a build, usually one to three minutes. If you need content that changes per request, we are not the right tool.
In France (Scaleway, Paris region), and both published content and media are served by Bunny, a European CDN. Sub-processors are listed publicly, a DPA is provided, no transfers to the United States. Invoices are in euros.
Under thirty minutes for a typical site: menestrel import reads your content collections, creates the schema, brings over the content and uploads the images. The "Your first site in 10 minutes" guide covers new sites.
A European team, based in France, that runs its own fleet of Astro sites. Every feature is proven on our own sites and real clients before it ships. We build first, promise second.
Create an account, plug in the loader, publish. The Free plan covers a full site, no credit card.
